Acceptable Worship, Practically [Part 3]

So, we’ve been on the subject of ‘Acceptable Worship, Practically’ and so far we’ve seen from my previous posts on the subject that acceptable worship must be in Spirit and in Truth, and it must be pure. With this post, let’s quickly add one more to the mix—and I hope this doesn’t make one long reading. Lol. 3. Acceptable worship must be sacrificial. But the king said to Araunah, “No. I’ve got to buy it from you for a good price; I’m not going to offer God, my God, sacrifices that are no sacrifice.” [2 Sam 24:24, MSG] Worship expressly implies the total giving away of self to God, as a whole offering that is pleasing in His sight. But it does not stop there; it also involves the giving of everything that you have, to God, out of love. When it’s all said and done, your best is the least that God deserves.

Acceptable Worship, Practically [Part 2]

Last week, I was privileged to write on the subject of ‘acceptable worship’. The longer the writing became, the more I realised I may not be able to do justice to the subject in one sitting, so here’s an attempt at part 2, as God gives me grace and utterance. Acceptable worship—as we discussed last week— is worship that done is spirit and in truth. Worship that flows from a regenerate spirit—the part of us that is like God– and a heart that subscribes in totality to the dictates of God’s word, and lives it out everyday. In this post, let us consider another parameter for worship that is acceptable to God...

Acceptable Worship, Practically [Part 1]

Whoo hoo! I’m writing again! Thank You, Jesus, for grace to keep this momentum going, and for the inspiration by Your Spirit to share what you open my eyes to see! For ‘Isn’t everything you have and everything you are sheer gifts from God'? [1 Cor 4:7, MSG] So once again my spirit is musing over something, and this time it is on the matter of ‘Acceptable Worship’. There is a lot of hype and noise in the body of Christ today: the Church is more ‘activity-driven’ in this dispensation than it has ever been in its history! Conferences, crusades, concerts, seminars, worship experiences (let’s not go there), the list goes on. What makes it all the more interesting is the assertion that it is all ‘to God’s glory’—which should make it a good thing, presumably. What we sometimes fail to understand is that not everything we do in God’s name is pleasing to Him.
